Role: Director of Photography, Editor, Colourist

I’ve loved every single visit I’ve done in the 15+ years I’ve been to the Yukon, but this one was different - I took the kids.

Ten years ago I made a film (“Away”) about the journey from rainy Vancouver in December to the frozen playground that is Whitehorse - it went viral thanks to the locals recognizing their homeland in a genuine and honest way - and in honour of that milestone I decided to recreate the story, but through the eyes of the kids experiencing the wonder for the first time.

It was so fantastic to see them fall in love with the landscape, the same way I did so long ago, and while the film doesn’t capture the over-tired, hangry meltdowns it definitely gives a good account of their experience.

Huge thanks as always to the always amazing Boréale Explorers & Boréale Ranch for their impeccable hospitality, and Air North, Yukon's Airline for keeping the magic alive with that warm cookie.

Can’t wait to get back there.
